For the fried chicken and coating
• 1 whole chicken, cut into several pieces
• 2 cups of all-purpose flour
• 1 tablespoon of baking powder
• 1 tablespoon of garlic powder

• 5 cups of vegetable shortening

Instructions:
1. Prepare the marinade by combining the ingredients in a container with a lid. Mix thoroughly and evenly.
2. Place the chicken pieces and coat each with the buttermilk marinade. Seal the container and marinate overnight or for only 2 hours. (Tip: Marinating the chicken overnight will make it more flavorful.)
